A Letter From Our Administrator

March 23rd, 2022

To Our Residents, Family Members and Employees:

March 13, 2020 we were required to shut our doors to general visitation. It is hard to believe all that has happened during this past year. Although we have been able to allow visitation in a limited fashion this past year, it is with great joy that we are able to again open our doors to general visits. It has been so heartwarming to see the expressions on our resident's faces when they see their family members. Our hope is there will be no changes to warrant the need to close our doors ever again.

We want to provide you with an update on the situation at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Health Care Center regarding the novel coronavirus or COVID-19. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and staff is our greatest concern.

Since May 8, 2020 (when the federal government issued reporting requirements), we have had a total of 134 residents and 122 staff to have confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Our total as of today, March 23rd, 2022:

We now have 0 employees and 0 residents diagnosed with COVID-19. When a resident tests positive we notify residents and their representative(s) of their condition and implement protocols for their care and treatment.

We continue to stay in close communication with the regional epidemiologist, and local and state health officials to ensure we are taking all the appropriate steps under current circumstances. We have and continue to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Virginia Department of Health including return to work guidance, for staff who test positive. Due to the positivity rate in our community and the high transmission rate, we continue to test staff as required. Residents are tested when necessary.

We also are:

  • Screening residents, staff, and essential vendors for symptoms
  • Practicing proper hand hygiene
  • Enhanced infection control precautions
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfection
  • Practicing social distancing, requiring all staff to wear masks and Personal Protective Equipment when indicated.

Due to privacy requirements, we cannot divulge specific information about the individuals who have confirmed or suspected COVID-19, unless they are a family member with the necessary written authorization to receive such information.

We need your assistance in mitigating COVID-19. Please visit the CDC website (www.cdc.gov/coronavirus) to learn how you can help prevent the spread in our community, since continued spread in the larger community increases the chance the virus will work its way into our facility. We will continue to provide you with updates, which are posted on our website, www.romaneagle.org. Please visit our website for the most recent information. We want you to know that we are adhering to guidelines from CMS, CDC and the local and state health departments, which continue to evolve as we learn more about this virus.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact our center.

We are Roman Eagle Strong!
