Job Description:
The primary purpose of the Medicaid Billing Specialist is to be responsible for the billing and collection of all Medicaid and Managed Medicaid claims, completing Medicaid applications for patients, meeting with patients/patient families, yearly Medicaid renewals, and other duties as assigned. This employee focuses primarily on maximizing cash flow through efficient billing and collection processes and is responsible for managing the Medicaid accounts receivable function according to the organization’s established policies and procedures. This position ensures timely and accurate monthly billing and collections for all Medicaid claims.
The Medicaid Billing Specialist MUST be very knowledgeable of the requirements for long term care billing to Medicaid, Managed Medicaid, and Pharmacy. This position interacts routinely with the Business Office Manager, Director of Finance, Director of Nursing, MDS Coordinator, Therapy Manager, third party insurance payors, auditors, residents and their families.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee monthly billing of claims and collection from Medicaid and Managed Medicaid
• Monitor aged accounts receivable by following up with payors
• Completing Medicaid applications and yearly Medicaid renewals for patients
• Oversee patient trust fund
• Must have the ability to work independently under tight deadlines to ensure all tasks are completed on time.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience working as an advanced long-term care facility biller/collector.
• Experience working in a high-volume long-term care environment is critical.
• Extensive knowledge of Medicaid & Managed Medicaid, Patient Liability, & Long-Term Care Insurance
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to nursing facility administrative and billing procedures.
• Strong knowledge of managing Patient Trust fund transactions
• Strong knowledge of long-term care software such as PointClickCare.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills.
• Applicant must exhibit excellent communication, multi-task, and organization skills.
